Am I wierd?

As as I stood in the kitchen tonight finishing up dinner I found myself staring at the timer on my oven. I heard the beep go off signaling 1 minute left, grabbed my oven mitts and just waited and waited and waited. The timer finally got to zero and then and ONLY then did I open the oven to check on my amazing mini meatloaves (thanks Jill!). I started wondering if I was the only goof that just stands and waits and waits and waits. God forbid I open the oven a second or two early because I am sure the oven Gods would grab me! I am not a type A personality in the least, I guess I am just a funny duck who always waits till zero. Just a random thought on this Wednesday night :)

It's About Life

About two weeks ago Ben and I attended our first non profit organization fundraiser for the Lazarex Cancer Foundation. We were invited by our good friends Dan & Kirsten Miks who hold this organization very close to their heart as Kirsten's stepmother is the president of the foundation. I have to say that this was our first time at a "black tie optional" event and were were relieved when the rest of the guests in our party were not in tuxes and full evening gowns! I can't express in words about how amazing our night was and how special it was to be involved with this organization. I can't wait to volunteer for future events and possibly run in the 5K next September! If you want more info then please check out the Lazarex Website at http://www.lazarexfoundation.org/index.php

Stanley Lane

We have been spending a ton of time at the Stanley Lane Pumpkin Patch this year. Reid loves to climb up to the top of the haystack, jump all the way down and weave through the maze. Miss Audrey loved the hay and she too wanted to follow her big brother up the hay stacks. I love fall and I especially love this time of the year in the Valley.

Who do you think is MORE in love?
Kissing the pig...guess she didn't get the memo that you have to kiss a frog to find a prince!

My GIRL!

My Baby Cannon

It has been almost 1 year that I have been begging my husband for a new camera. I can't keep up with the kids and they are too quick! I have had money saved for 1 whole year and we have finally made a decision! The Cannon Rebel XS 10.1 MP 2.5" Live View Display 3 Frames Per Second EF-S 18-55mm IS Lens. The beauty is being shipped from Costco.com and I am praying that it gets here before Halloween on Friday! I can hardly stand it. A special thank you to Annie's friend Britt who graciously returned my stalker email on her blog about her amazing pictures!

Ben & Grandpa

This picture was taken in Indiana in August 2006. This is by FAR my favorite picture of Ben and his late Grandfather.

William Homrig

What a month this has been. In late September we got word that Ben's grandfather's health was fading fast. Ben and I spent many hours discussing how to get our family back to Indiana to see his grandfather for what could be the last time. In early October it was apparent that Ben needed to be in Indiana as quickly as possible to see his grandfather. I stayed back to take care of the kids.
On the evening of October 8th, Ben's grandfather, William Homrig passed away peacefully surrounded by family. I am so glad that Ben was able to spend the last days with his grandfather and be in Indiana surrounded by family and friends for the funeral.
I never had the opportunity to meet William in person but I am blessed with the stories from family and the never ending love of his wife. Here is a recent picture as well as his amazing obituary.

William "Bill" Homrig, 85, of Lafayette, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at Rosewalk Village.
Born in Lafayette on Sept. 5, 1923, he was the son of the late Webster and Mary Hirzel Homrig. He was a graduate of Montmorenci High School.
On Dec. 15, 1945, he married LaVaughn Habben in Otterbein, and she survives.
Mr. Homrig served in the Merchant Marines in 1945 and 1946. He resided in San Francisco for three years and wintered at his Fort Lauderdale, Fla., home for 20 years.
He was employed at Fauber Construction for 27 years, and prior to that at National Homes.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf, music, Purdue sports, the Indianapolis Colts, and most of all traveling to spend time with his family.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Barbara Manley (husband: David) of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Kathleen Maidenberg (husband: Lee) of Clearwater, Fla., and Susan Stutts (husband: Steve) of Houston; a sister, Madeline Isaacson (husband: William) of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and a brother, Robert "Laddie" Homrig (wife: Marguerite) of San Francisco.

"I" List........

"I"...

I am... strong and know what I want out of life

I'd like to think...that this world of crime & disease will never affect my family & friends (I guess this should say “I wish”!)

I've become... aware that everyone has a "story", therefore I've also become much more tolerant of anyone who might have one that used to irritate me.

I think... about my kids, all the preggo mommies in my life, if Ben will really have to start traveling soon, if the gap in Reid’s teeth will grow together once he gets his adult teeth, why Audrey is such is an easy little girl and when that will change, what color I want to paint my hallway, bathroom and Reid’s room and also the family room even though Ben said NO, where should we hang our wedding picture, when is our CD of wedding pictures going to come so we can print out our pictures... my minds always going...Ben says it is like a pinball machine….Ball in the whole right now is what he would tell me at this moment……..

I know... I have the best family and friends in the world.

I want... my children to grow up to become responsible, educated, "nice" people, with no tragedies.

I have... a dirty closet that I need to clean.

I wish... I would be motivated to exercise.

I hate... black and navy together. A color thing I've always had. Please DON'T wear a black blouse and navy skirt. It makes me shutter.

I miss... Alynda & Abby/Karli & Cade

I fear... sorry, I can't even go there. Too many fears, that I choose to not think about.

I hear... Pandora on my computer playing “I got a feeling” on the country station.

I smell...not much, but I feel the freaking cold AC on in my office

I wonder... why so often the important things get shoved to the back, and the little stuff takes over for me.

I regret...many things but like to think that I have learned from those regrets

I love... my family & friends. Magazines. The color Red. The GAP outlet. Chocolate. Diet Coke. Captain Morgan.

I always... give in to chocolate... how do you turn down chocolate?

I am not...an A type personality

I believe... what comes around goes around.

I don't always... express my gratefulness. I try, but I'm not good at it. I'm trying to be better.

I win... most of my arguments with my husband... at least he lets me think I do.

I lose... track of my keys almost everyday...

I never...miss a reality TV show because I TIVO them all

I listen... to my heart.

I read... in spurts. At this point in my life I am lucky to have time to flip through a magazine.

I... hope you haven't found this too lame, and will consider replying to this “I” list so I can learn more about you!
